OMG YES. Jeb is working on new land generation, which is supposed to be less flat :D plus he added a flat world option :O read more about it here. And, the Star Wars content contest is going on right now. Some of this stuff is pretty impressive.
Not "less flat," but superflat. As in, instead of using an external map editor to create a finite flat map, you can now create one in-game, and it's infinite! And, completely flat, not even a single block out of line.
oh, awesome! i remember having a struggle to find a map with a super flat terrain, but now that its built in, i will have less trouble to create useless castles :D
